Making a lava lamp

Kia ora yesterday my mum, brother, and I made a lava lamp we put in oil, vinegar, water, red dye and baking soda. Vinegar is an acid and baking soda is an alkali when you put them together they have a chemical reachan wich makes bubbles come up. The bubbles are a gas called carbon dioxide. They looked really butaful in the dark when you shon the light on them. Here are some photoes and a video.

  1. Kia Ora Luka, what a fun thing to make, it bet it looks amazing at night. You will have to make sure the bottle is tightly sealed....or there would be a real mess to clean up!! I think they would be cool presents, perhaps you could make some for friends and family?
