A few days ago I read The boys from Isca academy. Its from my second most recent blog post. The boys had to wear long pants in the hot summer. They went to the principals ofice to ask if they could wear shorts. The head teacher said that they could wear skirts with a grin. After school the boys had a discussion and they all agreed that they were going to wear skirts the next day. You can read the story to see what happend.
Kei te pai to mahi! Thats a good story to share Luka. I like hearing about young people challenging rules that are out of date. Some rules are there to keep us safe, but others need to change. Thats called critical thinking and its a good skill to develop. What an interesting book, Have you read about Nelson Mandela.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Luka, I always like to think of alternatives in real life situations...what about girls that have to wear skirts and not have the choice of shorts. How about boys and girls have the choice of shorts, skirts and skorts, can you work out what a skort is?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's sometimes necessary to challenge the way things are. Change can be good - just ask Victorian women and children for a start! I sometime envy the vast range of clothing that females "can" wear - but I'm not brave enough to break the mould and wear a stunning ball gown in public, yet!
